Hi, my name is Kiki and I think I’m between 2 and 3 years old, but I don’t know for sure. I lived outside in a kennel all my life and breed continually until I was taken to an animal shelter. Thankfully, SGSR came and rescued me. My foster mom says I’m one in a million and gives me lots of love now! Everything is new to me and I’m looking for a special furever home. It’s taken a while to adjust to being inside, but it’s so nice and cozy, I love being inside and sleeping/lounging on my new bed! My foster family has been so patient with me helping me understand not to be scared by all the new noises and sights! I was very underweight when I reached my family, and I am slowly gaining weight. I still have a few pounds to add, but I’m sure my furever home can help with that! I love being petted and to snuggle with my foster mom! I love hanging with my foster fur brother and sister too! My fur sister is much older and has helped me learn manners and the rules of the house. I’m house trained-I’ve learned from my foster sister to tap the door handle when I need out, I am fine in my crate if you need to leave for a few hours, I will sit for my food, and I try really hard to not pull on the leash, but everything is just so new, I sometimes can’t help myself. My fur brother is a little wild man and has taught me that playing is fun! I didn’t know how to play, and he showed me that running and jumping in the yard with friends is the best! I never knew I could run so fast! He also showed me how to play fetch and that toys are AWESOME!!! I love TOYS!!! Between my fur brother and I, we set a new record destroying our stuffed snowman…we had so much fun! My foster mom said she is buying me rubber toys from now on-what ever that means. I like to be in the same room as my foster mom all the time, and I still get scared sometimes with strange noises and will hide behind her. It takes me a little while to warm up and trust new people, I like to stay near my foster mom and just watch them for a bit. I do need to continue to work on my manners so I can be more comfortable with people. I don’t jump, I’m not food aggressive, and hardly ever bark. I’m very smart and can be trained fairly easily. I have a human foster sister who is 8 and I love snuggling with her. I understand she is small and I am VERY careful around her. She likes to give me hugs and play ball outside with me, she’s so much fun to be with! Have I said I love to be snuggled and be petted…lots of belly rubs please!!! I’d do best with a family that has a nice fenced in yard so I can run and play everyday! If you think you might be my furever family and are interested in making me a permanent part of your family, please contact your adoption coordinator. If you are not yet approved and are within our adoption territory (NC, VA, MD), you can complete an application here: www.southeastgermanshpherdrescue.com. Kiki is being fostered in Raleigh, NC.
